Obituary of Wilma Broadwater

Weber City, VA - Wilma Geraldine "Jerry" Broadwater, 84 of Weber City, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Nova Health and Rehab Center following a brief illness. She was born in Duffield, VA and had lived in Weber City, VA for most of her life. Several years ago, Jerry worked as a ticket agent for Tri-State Bus Company and as Justice of the Peace in Gate City. She enjoyed flea markets, auctions and had a passion for feeding and watching the birds. Jerry had recently authored a book entitled, "Old Say'ns, Folklore, Childhood Memories and Much More". She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Broadwater; her daughter, Susan Karen Broadwater; her parents, Hop and Josie Bishop Bledsoe; her brother, Glenn C. "Carl" Bledsoe. Jerry is survived by her daughter, Kim Broadwater of the home; sisters, Lena Gibson of Weber City and Jean Moore of Duffield; special cat, Baby; special niece and nephew, Betsy Gibson and Randy Gibson; several other nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Jean Bowen, Ron Carter and family, George Lane and family, Carolyn Singleton, Glenn and Reba Lovell. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Elder Oscar Irvin, Rev. Paul Blessing and George Lane officiating. Music will be provided by Glenn Lovell. Burial will follow in Holston View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Gibson, Ryan Gibson, Ron Carter, Ken Carr. Honorary pallbearers will be Betsy Gibson, Kelsey Gibson, Jessie Culbertson (deceased) and Harlan Peters. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Broadwater family.
