Obituary of James R. Roberts

James R. Roberts, 83 of Kingsport went home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at his home. He was born in Saltville, Virginia and lived in the area for most of his life. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Air Force. James retired from Quebecor after over 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Snow Roberts and his father, James R. Roberts. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Phyllis Morelock Roberts of the home; his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; a brother, William Wallace "Wally" Roberts; along with many other extended family members. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport with Rev. Ron Ramsey and Rev. Josh Kilbourne, officiating. Flag presentation will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Suite 102, Johnson City, TN 37601. Inurnment was completed on August 4, 2014 in Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountian Home, Tennessee in Section QQ, Grave #245. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Roberts family.
