Obituary of James Louis Brooks

James Louis Brooks, 84 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Holston Valley Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Born in Hawkins County, James had lived in Kingsport for most of his life. He was retired from Rental Uniforms where he worked as a salesman. He was a member of Ross Campground United Methodist Church and attended Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Blackburn Brooks; parents, Jessie and Mattie Clark Brooks; granddaughter, Shira Leighanne Ketron; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. James is survived by his daughter, Patricia Ketron and husband Dwight of Kingsport; grandchildren, Carrie Lewis and husband Jody and Christy Ramsey and husband Brian; great-grandchildren, Bryson Cox, Brayden Ramsey, Emma, Cody and Jesse Lewis; brothers, Robert Brooks and wife Gladys, J. D. Brooks, Gene Brooks and wife Ilean, Don Brooks and Garland Brooks and wife Shirley; several nieces and nephews; special sister-in-law, Linda Burke. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Lay and Pastor Chad Roberts officiating. Music will be provided by Danny Walker. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at East Lawn Memorial Park. Brian Ramsey and Jessica Brickey will provide the music. Pallbearers will be Dwight Ketron, Jody Lewis, Brian Ramsey, Bryson Cox, Brayden Ramsey, Cody Lewis and Jesse Lewis. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Northeast TN Chapter, 207 N.
