Obituary of Jerry Frazier

Jerry "Cotton" Frazier, 74, of Yuma,VA, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a long illness. He was born in Hanover, VA and had lived in the Yuma, VA community most of his life. Mr. Frazier was a retired painter of 40 years. His handle on the CB was "Cotton" and he loved talking to all the people he became friends with over the years. Mr. Frazier loved going to flea markets & swapping & trading various items and "dickerin" for the best price he could get. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the late Dr. Hamilton, Paul and Jewel George and to his granddaughter, Michelle Perry and his grandson, Matthew Dickerson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert "Bob" and Alice Bishop Frazier; brother, Leroy "Buck" Frazier and wife, Shirley and a sister, Elizabeth "Liz" Bowens. Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Jones Frazier, children, Carolyn Roberts and husband, Jeff, Rickie Frazier, Thomas Frazier, Teresa Stevens and Joe Housewright, Debbie Dickerson and Keith Grindstaff and Brad Frazier and Donna Jackson; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; sister, Bobbie Mae Marshall and husband, Verlin; brothers, Floyd Frazier and Larry Frazier and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at his home any time after 12 noon Saturday, May 31, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the family of Jerry Frazier.
