Obituary of Buddie Dean Chesser

Duffield - Buddie Dean Chesser, 79 of Duffield, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Indian Path Medical Center following a long illness. Born in Scott County, Virginia, Dean was retired from Westmoreland Coal Company following 23 years of service and was a member of Duffield Town Council. He was a loving husband, father and papaw. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hershal and Daisy Dishner Chesser and his sister Bennie Bess. Dean is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lena Bowen Chesser; daughter, Donetta Blevins and husband Ronnie; grandchildren, Robin Dunn and husband Shannon, Travis Baker, Roxana Fleming and husband Kevin; great-grandchildren, Matthew Baker, Zackery Bowen and Emily Bowen; nephews, Michael Bess and Paul Bess. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City, VA. Friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Chuck Grimm and Pastor Kyle Akers officiating. Music will be provided by Durhams Chapel Quartet. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chesser Cemetery in Duffield. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City is serving the Chesser family.
