Obituary of Cathy Dell Weatherly

Cathy Dell Peters Weatherly, 56, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday evening, March 5, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after courageous battle with leukemia. She graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1976. She worked as Eastman Chemical Co. for 24 years before becoming disabled. Cathy was founder and owner of Cathy's Pools. Cathy loved hanging out at the pool store meeting people and making new friends. She was a member of Faith Apostolic Church of Church Hill. Cathy never lost her faith in Jesus. She loved going to car shows with Danny and showing their '72 Chevelle SS which they have owned for 25 yrs. Cathy was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother. She loved her grandkids dearly. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like extend a special thank you to Dr. Steve Adkins of HMG, the staff of Kingsport Hematology and Oncology and to the staff of 3rd Floor Wilcox Hall. She was preceded in death by her father, Earl G. Peters; her father in law and mother in law, William "Bill" and Erma Begley Weatherly and several aunts and uncles. Surviving are her loving husband of 38 years, Danny Weatherly; daughter, Lebreska "Bree" Weatherly Kern and husband, Wes; son, James D. Weatherly II; grandchildren, Kaden Kern, Eli Kern and Addison "Addie" Weatherly; mother, Vernie "Lucille" Peters; sisters, Barbara Cox and husband, Mike and Phyllis Bellamy and husband, Tyrone; several special sisters in law and brothers in law; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Mary Lou Dykes, Jean Carter, Marcella Hite, Linda Frazier, Tammie Carter, Rick Murphy and a host of many other friends. The family will receive friends from 4 - 7 pm Saturday, at Apostolic Gospel Church, 1780 Granby Rd., Kingsport. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Sunday at Apostolic Gospel Church, 1780 Granby Rd. with Brother Chris Cody and Brother Greg Street officiating. A graveside service will follow at Old Kingsport Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Carter, Robbie Weatherly, Shannon Cox, Chris Weatherly, Micah Lawson, Mike Church, Dave Spears and Jeff Vaughn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Hite, Phil Robinson, Mike Cox and Bobby Carter.
