Obituary of William Lee Tankersley
William Lee Tankersley, 72, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord early Friday morning, January 24, 2014 at Wellmont Hospice following a lengthy illness. William overcame many health issues showing true resilience for his zest in life. Mr. Tankersley served in the United States Army for 4 years. He retired from the Tennessee Eastman Company from the Filter Tow department. As long as he was able, he enjoyed golfing and other sports. He especially loved to travel. William (AH-AH) will be missed by many relatives and friends that he made in his life. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elige and Eula Willis Tankersley; his best friend, Bob Parsons.
Survivors include his loving wife, Louise Bush Tankersley of the home; daughter, Amy Hamilton (Kevin) of Kingsport; two sisters, Phyllis Inman (Hubert) of Blairs, VA, and Carolyn Watson (Billy) of Eden, NC; a brother, Tommy Tankersley (Patsy) of Danville, VA; an aunt, Gracie Wallen of Kingsport; uncle, J.P. Willis of Greenville, TN; along with many nieces, nephew and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 pm Sunday, January 25, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport or friends may also call anytime at the residence. Funeral services will follow at 5 pm in the funeral chapel with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. Music will be provided by Damon Depew.
An entombment service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 26, 2014 at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be Sean Light, Kevin Hamilton, Michael Bush, Jeff Little, Joe Slaughter, Wayne Franklin, and Rocky Hutchins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wallace Pridemore, Terry Alexander, Gene Bush, Mickey Bush, Billy Watson, Tommy Tankersley, and Hubert Inman
