Obituary of Christopher Cox

Christopher Duane Cox, 46, of Kingsport passed on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Indian Path Medical Center. Chris, a native of Kingsport, was a loving husband and devoted father. He loved the Lord and his church family. He also loved Volunteer football, basketball, four-wheeling and was an avid traveler. He watched over us all and now he continues his watch from Heaven. He attended Bloomingdale Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary "Edith" Wallen Cox; brother, Brian Keith Cox; maternal grandparents, William "Bill" Wallen & Eliza "Neal" Lane Walden; paternal grandparents, John A. Cox and Winona Peters Cox. Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Kim Cox of the home; daughter, Makayla Cox; step-son, Anthony Browder & wife Maghen; sister, Sheri Cox Hickam & special brother-in-law, Roger; father, Claude Cox; father & mother-in-law, Frank and Betty Ketron; brother-in-law, Frank Ketron, Jr. & wife Donna; nephew, Joshua Page; two nieces, Jessica Page and Kristin Ketron; great-niece, Savannah Hutson; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins and his special pet, John. The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 at Bloomingdale Baptist Church, 3220 Bloomingdale Road, Kingsport. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, January 4, 2014 in the church with Rev. Phil Whittemore, officiating. Entombment will follow at Oak Hill Mausoleum, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be Steven Taylor, David Gibson, Chris Hutchinson, Jeff Cox, Frank Ketron, Jr. and Roger Hickam. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Cox family.
