Obituary of William B. Smith
Duffield - William B. Smith, Jr. 87 of Duffield, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, VA following a lengthy illness. William was a lifelong resident of Scott County and worked for General Motors in Dayton, OH later working as a mechanic and painter in the auto repair and body shop business.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Regina Hood Smith; parents, William B. Smith, Sr. and Matilda Williams Smith; sisters, Zella Mae Qualls, Venice Lane, Edna Hood and Bessie Bloomer; brothers, M. D. Smith and Bascom Smith.
William is survived by his son, Rex Smith and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 6,, 2013 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City. Friends may also call anytime at the residence.
A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating.
A military graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Smith Family Cemetery (Kingdom community) in Duffield with the American Legion Post 3/265 and the VA National Guard conducting the rites. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m.
