Obituary of Shack Crawford

Pap Crawford 77, of Mount Carmel went to be with Jesus on Friday night October 11, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends following a brief illness. Pap was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County. He retired as a construction worker. Pap loved to farm and was an avid gardener. He attended Arnold's Chapel Holiness Church where he enjoyed singing. Pap loved to talk and he never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Crawford Morin in 2003; parents, William Carl and Kansas Barrett Crawford; sisters, Cora Arnold, Ruby Barrett, Dessie George and Pheobe Davis. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Janie Crawford; children, Sue Pierson and husband Jack, Mike Crawford and wife Teresa, Rhonda Roberts and husband Tony, Ronnie Crawford and girlfriend Sherylene, Chris Crawford and wife Stacie; grandchildren, Tancy and husband, Jason Spina, Robbie and wife, Rhonda Salyer, Daniel Roberts, Anthony Roberts, Nikki and husband,Todd Bragg; great grandchildren, Aleq Bragg and Parker Salyer; sister, Mary Castle; brother, Jim Crawford and wife Elsie; along with a "whole slew" of nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 8 pm on Monday, October 14, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home. Friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Roy Brickey and Preacher Johnny Persinger officiating. Music will be provided by Roy Brickey, Roberts Sisters and Jason Webb. Burial will follow at Mount Mitchell Cemetery. Pallbearers and Honorary pallbearers will be Robbie Salyer, Fred Castle, Daniel Roberts, Anthony Roberts, James Arnold, Robert Lynn Castle, BD Castle, Jimmy Castle and Chris (Chee) Davis, Jeff Barrett and Eddie Barrett. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Crawford family.
