Obituary of Lucille Mildred Williams

Gate City - Lucille Mildred Williams, 91 of Gate City, departed this life on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Brookhaven Manor in Kingsport after a lengthy illness. A devoted homemaker, Lucille was deeply loved by her family and was owner/operator of Lucille's Beauty Shop in Gate City for many years. Many faithful customers followed her home when she retired from full time work, and she continued to serve those customers for a few years on a part-time basis. She will be deeply and lovingly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester A. Williams; son, Ronald Jack Williams; parents, Rev. Hugh and Mary Mowdy McDavid; brother, Howard McDavid; sisters, Jean McDavid Smith and Ruth McDavid Smith; Left behind to cherish her sweet memory are her children, Patricia Ferguson and husband Bill of Auburn, KY, Joan Bentley and husband Shane of Big Stone Gap, VA, Sandra Woods of Gate City, VA, Lester A. Williams and wife Delores of Kingsport; sisters, Reba Nell Rice of Kingsport, Betty Peters and husband Junior of Gate City, Maylene Reed of Gate City; brother, Allen McDavid and wife Helen of Gate City; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bob Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Holston View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marble Point Church, Building Fund, Route 6 Box 340, Gate City, VA 24251.
