Obituary of Harold V. Hicks

Harold V. Hicks, 82 of Kingsport passed away at Brookhaven Nursing Home after an extended illness. Born in Meigs County, TN, he was the son of the late Luther and Lillie Hicks of Tellico Plains, TN. He was a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College, Athens, TN. He served his country in the Navy and Air Force. He retired from Mead in 1994. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and loved singing in the choir. He is survived by his wife, Doris Buckner Hicks; daughters, Angie and husband Steve Johnson, Andrea and husband Roy Rogers of Lawrenceville, GA; one granddaughter, Adrienne Rogers of Alpharetta, GA; brother, Bernard and wife Barbara of Louisville, KY. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 6 pm on Sunday September 29, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A service will follow at 6 pm in the funeral home chapel with Steven Johnson officiating. Graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Monday at McMinn Memory Gardens, Athens, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hope Haven Ministry. The family wishes to thank nurses and caregivers at 400 wing, Brookhaven for taking good care of Daddy. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Hicks family.
