Obituary of Bobbie Williams
Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Williams, 74, of the Yuma Community, Gate City, went to be with the Lord Sunday August 25, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
A native of Scott County, Virginia, she has lived in this area most of her life. She was a member of Vicar's Chapel Baptist Church. An avid lover of flowers, Bobbie was an active member in the daylily club. She also enjoyed traveling and attending gospel singings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mary (Bruner) Catron; five sisters, Mrs. Nell Martin, Mrs. Julia Beurris, Mrs. Troy Thacker, Mrs. Lois Cox and Ms. Dora Catron and brother, Michael Catron
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jim Williams; daughter, Mrs. Jeanette Ecker and husband Bruce, Nickelsville; two sons, Mr. Tim Williams and wife Karen, Kingsport and Mr. Joe Williams and wife Darlene, Gate City; two grandchildren, Mr. Eric Williams and Mrs. Brianna Jennings and husband, Jarred; two great grandchildren, Tommy Williams and Ella Williams; two step grandchildren, Mr. Craig Ecker and wife Susan and Mrs. Karianne Counts and husband Mark; ten step great grandchildren, Casey, Austin, Dalton and Hayden Ecker, Cory, Logan, Tristan, Mason and Addison Counts; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Olinger and Ms. Mary Ann Catron; two brothers, Mr. Frank Catron and wife Jane and Mr. Larry Catron and wife Linda; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Anne Jenkins.
The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Tuesday at Scott County Funeral Home or anytime at the home of her son, Joe. A funeral service will follow at 7pm with Rev. Stephen Caldwell officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11am Wednesday in Holston View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Crabtree, J.P. Fansler, Stuart Williams, Keith Cox, Bruce Blessing and Bobby Alan Beurris.
Those who plan to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15am Wednesday.
