Obituary of Charlie Dwitt Wood

Charlie Dwitt Wood, 86, of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a life-long resident of Hawkins County and retired from Penn Dixie and later worked for Joy manufacturing. He was a member of Amis Chapel united Methodist Church.. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Wood; his parents, James and Annie Overbay Wood; brothers, Zemp and Robert Wood; sisters, Ruby Armstrong and Mattie Sue Campbell; grandson, Joseph Wood. Charlie is survived by his daughters Kathy Patterson and husband Randy and Rhonda Collins and husband Jeffrey all of Church Hill; sons, Verlion Wood and wife Alice of Church Hill and Garry Wood and wife Rhonda of Mt Carmel; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Sam Wood and Mack Wood and wife Bonnie all of Surgoinsville; sisters, Alice Guy of Johnson City and Sallie Noe of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 1115 Hwy 11W, Church Hill, TN Friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro Jerry Scalf officiating. Music will be provided by The Two Disciples. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Wood family.
