Obituary of Joseph Green

Joseph Leon Green, Sr., 78, of Gate City, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 21, 2013 at Indian Path Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Walled Lake, Michigan and had lived in Gate City for the past 25 years. Mr. Green served in the U.S. Army and retired as a Floor Manager with the Ford Motor Company. He was a Christian. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia; second wife, Shirley; step daughter, Robin Bishop and step granddaughter, Ashley Bishop. Joseph is survived by his wife, Virginia Green; "special" daughter, Jorrina Abbott and husband, Jim; sons, Joseph Green, Jr. and wife, Pamela and Rick Green and wife, Dawn; several step daughters and step sons from his first, second and current marriages; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and other extended family members. The family will receive friends for 12 noon to 2 pm Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home 520 Watauga St., Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 2pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jack Edwards officiating. Military Graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post 3/265 will follow at Tri Cities Memory Gardens, Blountville. Memorial donations may be made to Jorrina Abbott, P.O. Box 1644, Kingsport, TN 37662, to help with funeral expenses. Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown Kingsport is serving the Joseph Green family.
