Obituary of Joshua Adcock

Joshua (Josh) Thomas Adcock, 8, of Jonesborough, received his angel wings and went peacefully to be with Jesus surrounded by his family on Thursday (May 09, 2013) at Monroe Carell, Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. Josh was an 8 year old little boy with an enormous love for life and having fun. He had a contagious smile that could light up the world and was full of love for others. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, playing video games, watching movies, being a cub scout, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his big brother Jake. Josh endured so much in his short time with us but never allowed it to stop him from enjoying life and bringing joy to us and everyone around him. He made the best of every day he was given and taught us all how to enjoy our days in spite of our circumstances. You will be missed little man but the impact you left on all of us will forever remain in our hearts and you will always be the greatest superhero in our eyes. We have peace knowing you are healed now and with Jesus in Heaven and we look forward to seeing you again someday. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Phil Adcock. Josh Adcock is survived by his parents, Terry and Tammy Hilton Adcock; a brother, Jake Adcock; maternal grandparents, Larry and Kathy Hilton (Kingsport, TN); paternal grandparents, Wayne and JoAnn Adcock (Jonesborough, TN); his uncles, Jeff Hilton and wife, Renea (Gray, TN), Chris Adcock (Johnson City, TN); an aunt, LuAnn Adcock Pendleton and husband, Todd (Snowflake, VA); cousins, Ryan Hilton, Kate Pendleton along with many more extended family members. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday (May 14, 2013) from 1p.m. to 3 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Boone Trail Baptist Church, 1985 Carroll Creek Road in Johnson City or friends may also call anytime at the residence. A celebration of life for Josh will be conducted on Tuesday (May 14, 2013) at 7 p.m. in the church with Pastor Jon Reed, Pastor Wayne Bledsoe, Pastor Jeff Connell, Pastor Will Easler, and Pastor Tracy Pigford officiating. Music will be provided by Men of Praise and the Boone Trail Praise Team. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday (May 15, 2013) at 1 p.m. at Sulphur Springs Cemetery with Jake Adcock, Chris Adcock, Jeff Hilton, Ryan Hilton, Charlie Davenport, and Todd Pendleton serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his two very best friends, Isaac Lizotte and Landon Kirkpatrick. A special thank-you goes out to our family and friends who have stood by our side and been our support throughout this entire journey. A thank-you goes to our church, Boone Trail Baptist Church and also Sulphur Springs Baptist Church for being there for us in every way. A special thank-you to First Baptist in Donelson for all they did for our family while we were in Nashville with Josh. Also, a special thanks to our community for rallying around us with continued love and prayers. Thank you to Sulphur Springs School for taking extra special care of both our sons. Special thanks to Johnson City Pediatrics, St. Jude Clinic in Johnson City, Niswonger Children's Hospital, Monroe Carell, Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt and to all the Doctors, nurses, and staff who have become part of our family over the years and always went the extra mile for Josh. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts for the care you took of our precious son. Remember to "Stay on the Wall" with us as we journey through the rest of our lives without our special little man. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PHIL Foundation, 158 Highland Road, Jonesborough, TN 37659 which goes to helping other families in our community during similar times of need.
